Prepare for economic challenges,Amosun tells ogun officials
Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has said in the face of the current economic challenges facing Nigeria, members of the State Executive Council must be ready to use the least resources available to achieve outstanding results in the state.
He urged them to be prepared to make positive impacts despite the economic challenges facing the country.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the governor, Mr. Adejuwon Soyinka, quoted Amosun as saying this on Friday at a retreat organised for political appointees, permanent secretaries, heads of parastatals, directors and other top government officials in Ogun.
Speaking at the retreat organised with the theme ‘Optimising Resources, Outstanding Results,’ Amosun noted that the retreat became necessary at a time when the nation was going through economic challenges.
“Where we are in Nigeria, things are not so rosy. Yet, for us as a state, people’s expectations are high and we must work hard for it,” he stated.
Amosun said the time had come for all team leaders and managers in the state government to change their orientation and work ethics towards achieving more productivity and ultimately improve the fortunes of the state.
He said, “We are now at a critical time that everyone must change his orientation and work ethics, though we are not here to over-labour you but we must work hard, sharpen our skills and to listen to our renowned resource persons to tell us the way to go, while we acquaint ourselves with world best practices.”
The governor further encouraged the attendees to remain focused, while collectively breaking new grounds that would distinguish the state among the comity of nations in spite of the lean resources available.
