I am on my way to APC – Alao-Akala

There were surprises at the residence of Governor Abiola Ajimobi yesterday as one of his arch political rivals at the April 11 poll, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala appeared and congratulated  him on his victory at the Appeal Court.
Akala came third in the election and has distanced himself from any petition against the winner, Governor Ajimobi.
On his congratulatory visit to Governor Ajimobi at his residence, Akala who was beaming an inviting smile said; “I am here to rejoice with my brother for the judgment of today. We already knew what the outcome would be; we had expected what we got today. So we are rejoicing.
On his possible defection to APC, Alao-Akala said “It has been on; we are still crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s. I am on my way to APC.”

Film-makers reject dubbing of Chinese films into Yoruba, Hausa

Top indigenous film-makers and actors that include Dele Odule, Jide Kosoko and Tunji Bamisigbin have opposed an alleged plan by a pay-TV provider, Star Times, to broadcast Chinese films dubbed into Yoruba and other indigenous languages. According to them, the development is capable of destroying the indigenous film industry. They spoke at a briefing held at the LTV complex, Ikeja, Lagos, last Wednesday.At the event attended by actors, producers and marketers, including Yemi Solade, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Alhaji Abdullahi Abdurasak and Tunji Ojetola, they called on the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and the National Assembly to stop the move that they described as one that can cause cultural erosion. How kidnapped Lagos teachers, pupils were released

Kidnapped four pupils and two teachers of Lagos State Model College, Igbonla Epe, were ferried to safety in two speedboats by their abductors on Tuesday, it was learnt yesterday. The victims – Abu, Emmanuel Okonkwo, Jeremiah Ruth, Isaac Adebisi – Junior School Vice Principal A. O. Oyesola and English teacher Lukman Oyerinde, were dropped off inside a forest where they trekked for over two hours before meeting their relatives. Our reporters learnt that they were asked to walk in a line and not look back until they got to the point where family members had waited for over four hours. The vice principal led the pack and the English teacher was asked to stay at the rear, leaving the pupils in-between. The victims were taken to the Epe General Hospital for check-up.  Some of them were diagnosed with typhoid and malaria. The father of one of the victims said: “They spent many hours at the hospital and were later moved to a house in Epe where the principal addressed them. “
