Miss Anambra “sexgate”: Police not aware – CP

Awka – Mr Sam Okaula, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra, says the command is not aware of any sex scandal involving Miss Anambra Beauty Queen, Miss Chidimma Okeke. Okaula said in Awka on Thursday that the command was yet to receive any report of such case.

On the speculation making the round that some people have been arrested over the matter, he said that the command had not made any arrest regarding the issue.

“I am not aware of any arrest of those involved or blackmailers in the matter. We have not gotten any report on the matter. Okeke, the reigning Miss Anambra Beauty Queen, was alleged to be involved in lesbianism due to amateur video clips which have gone viral on the internet. The development have not only caused crisis between the beauty queen and the organisers, but have raised moral issues.

Film-makers reject dubbing of Chinese films into Yoruba, Hausa

Top indigenous film-makers and actors that include Dele Odule, Jide Kosoko and Tunji Bamisigbin have opposed an alleged plan by a pay-TV provider, Star Times, to broadcast Chinese films dubbed into Yoruba and other indigenous languages. According to them, the development is capable of destroying the indigenous film industry. They spoke at a briefing held at the LTV complex, Ikeja, Lagos, last Wednesday.At the event attended by actors, producers and marketers, including Yemi Solade, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Alhaji Abdullahi Abdurasak and Tunji Ojetola, they called on the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and the National Assembly to stop the move that they described as one that can cause cultural erosion. How kidnapped Lagos teachers, pupils were released

Kidnapped four pupils and two teachers of Lagos State Model College, Igbonla Epe, were ferried to safety in two speedboats by their abductors on Tuesday, it was learnt yesterday. The victims – Abu, Emmanuel Okonkwo, Jeremiah Ruth, Isaac Adebisi – Junior School Vice Principal A. O. Oyesola and English teacher Lukman Oyerinde, were dropped off inside a forest where they trekked for over two hours before meeting their relatives. Our reporters learnt that they were asked to walk in a line and not look back until they got to the point where family members had waited for over four hours. The vice principal led the pack and the English teacher was asked to stay at the rear, leaving the pupils in-between. The victims were taken to the Epe General Hospital for check-up.  Some of them were diagnosed with typhoid and malaria.
