Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo A former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has called on well-meaning Nigerians to give back to the communities where they hail from, in order to stem the tide of rural-urban migration and unemployment among youths. He also said this would engender rural development in the country. Film-makers reject dubbing of Chinese films into Yoruba, Hausa

Top indigenous film-makers and actors that include Dele Odule, Jide Kosoko and Tunji Bamisigbin have opposed an alleged plan by a pay-TV provider, Star Times, to broadcast Chinese films dubbed into Yoruba and other indigenous languages. According to them, the development is capable of destroying the indigenous film industry. They spoke at a briefing held at the LTV complex, Ikeja, Lagos, last Wednesday.At the event attended by actors, producers and marketers, including Yemi Solade, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Alhaji Abdullahi Abdurasak and Tunji Ojetola, they called on the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, and the National Assembly to stop the move that they described as one that can cause cultural erosion. Cadbury’s Head of Corporate and Government Affairs(West Africa) Bala Yesufu has expressed hopes that the Super Eagles will soon find their rhythm in their bid to pick the tickets to the 2017 African Cup of Nations and 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Bala Yesufu Eagles are locked in a two-way horse race with Egypt for next year’s AFCON while they await the draw for the group stage of the Russia 2018 World Cup to be made next summer. Speaking in an interview with Saturday Vanguard Sports in Lagos, Yesufu said it was important for the Eagles to quickly rediscover their rhythm before the next matches in the qualification series resume next March.
